Kaspersky is the same way but in my experience, the Home version works perfectly in small businesses with, I'd say, less than 10 machine. Why? Because it's just that good. The only two real advantages of paying for the server/client versions are that you can control updates and monitor any threats. Well, you can do that with the Home version too. Updates are automatic, you can email any bad results and that's that!
Cost you say? Well, the server/client version can get a little pricy so I'd suggest that if you have more than 20 computers. You'd just be better off. If you have less computers than that, go with the Home version. No harm in it. You can even buy 3-packs really cheap. And if you can catch it at Frys.com. you can even get a 3-pack FREE after mail-in rebate. (Yes, I've done it a few times!)
Guess we should talk about how well it works compared to something else. We have a client who run Symantec Antivirus (Business version). Updates were all up, it was running, but BAM! Nasty virus. Nothing we did could get rid of it. So as a last resort we removed the Symantec Antivirus and installed a quick trial of Kaspersky Home. After the install and a quick definition update, it found the problem. Right off. Rebooted, and problem solved! They are now slowly switching all the machines to it.
Customer support is also a major issue some times. Long store short, they're good.
